HabiStat Red desert sand is a natural base substrate, perfect for reptiles from true desert environments. Its fine, natural texture encourages digging, burrowing, and other instinctive behaviours, while creating an authentic desert look in any enclosure. 
Use it straight from the bag for a simple setup, or blend with other substrates to increase sand volume and create added interest and enrichment for your animals. 
 
Our substrates come fully hydrated and ready to use. Compact the bottom layer before adding a top layer to help maintain burrows and trap essential humidity in the lower levels. As the top layer dries, it it will trap in vital humidity throughout the bottom layers.
