HerpWood from HerpXotics is a premium coco bark substrate that is 100% organic, sustainably sourced and perfect for a huge variety of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. HerpWood is made from coconut bark flakes generated as a by-product of other industries, making it a sustainable resource. Similar to other coco based Herp substrates, the main difference is the larger tougher pieces that make it more similar to Orchid Bark, yet still sold in a compact brick.
 
When made damp this substrate holds humidity well, making it perfect for animals requiring high levels of moisture. It’s manufacturing process involves sterilisation so it should not mould or rot, even if made incredibly damp. It can also be used dry for species from arid environments, and looks great scattered with some leaf litter across the surface of the substrate, replicating a woodland floor.
 
The woody nature of this substrate makes it suitable for growing certain plant species that require more aerated roots, such as Orchids, Alocasias and more.
